Another World Weaving
This one of a kind weaving was inspired by Arundhati Roy's beautiful quote found in her book, War Talk.
The layered cotton rope and organic (honest) yarn was spun in India. The brass beads are imported from East Africa and each word on the charms have been hand-stamped, individually letter by letter. The passage reads:
Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. Maybe many of us won't be here to greet her, but on a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.
I made this piece during lockdown in isolation, while watching the events in Palestine unfold and wondered how on earth I could help. A weaving isn't much, but it was a way to remind myself that we are all connected through our actions and woven together by love.
Karen Walrond has generously purchased this piece and I have decided to donate the proceeds of this piece towards relief efforts dedicated towards children in Palestine, who have been through immense trauma and are now displaced by war.
